Long periods of gaming always lead to stiffness and soreness, so I improvised..
 

• That was when the idea was born!
• A few months of prototyping with different fillings, materials, shapes and sizes and we ended up with the perfect pillow for gaming… 
   

• This is the typical gaming position – leaning forward, hunched and rounded back, pressure on the shoulders & neck. 
• Long gaming sessions positioned like this can lead to neck, back & shoulder pain, not to mention bad posture in general..

Our gaming pillow has been designed to: 

• Take the weight off your forearms. 
• Remove the pressure from your shoulders. 
•  Prevent strain in the neck from building up while you play.

This creates the most comfortable gaming experience, while eliminating poor posture…
 

The Valari comes in two versions – Rare & Legendary.

Both pillows have the same shape and size, and the same internal filling. The difference is in the covers and customisation.

• The cover material for the Rare pillow is made from a comfortable poly-cotton blend, and will be available in a limited number of pre-selected colours.
• The Legendary, on the other hand, is in a class of its own. The covers are made from a range of premium materials, such as 100% cotton, suede or velour finish.
• The Legendary is also where you can really make the pillow your own! 
   

As big gamers, customisation is very important to us. 

We like to customise our characters in games, we like to customise our controllers in real life, so we wanted to make sure we could customise our gaming pillows too.  
 

• For those of you who don’t necessarily want to pick everything, but you want something more premium than a Rare pillow, we will also be offering Legendary Themed pillows. 
• We give you a selection of themes and you just specify the gamertag or name you want us to add. 
   

(We will ask you to specify your pillow preferences after the campaign has ended)
 

• We designed the Valari primarily for console gamers using controllers.
• It also works just as well for mobile gamers, as a reading pillow and even for knitting/crocheting. 
• It’s great for all ages, as it encourages and enables good posture, preventing postural issues later in life. 
   

The filling was crucial in finding the right balance for our pillow;

•  Too soft and it doesn’t provide the necessary support for your upper body & won’t do the job of preventing gamer lean.
•  Too firm and it won’t be comfortable enough to use for long gaming sessions.
   

After hours and hours of gruelling testing (the grind is real)…. we found the perfect balance:

The Valari absorbs the weight of your forearms while giving you just the right amount of push back for the perfect gaming experience. 
 

• We wanted covers that are soft & comfortable to rest your skin on for hours. 
•  Hypoallergenic, water resistant, removable and machine washable. 

• The final touch to your Valari is the Twist & Clip. 
• When not using it, simply twist it and clip it for seamless integration with your couch.
• Looks good and saves on space.

When we came up with the Valari, the idea was to make gaming more comfortable for everyone. It never really occurred to us how beneficial it could be for those with disabilities, until we were contacted by several individuals. Gamers with disabilities or who suffer from chronic pain loved the idea of the Valari. It was really eye opening for us and very gratifying to be able to gift them pillows. We would very much like to be able to continue to help the disabled community as much as we can.

We will be looking at ways in which we can incorporate donations into our business model moving forward. In the meantime, we have created an add-on that will allow you to donate a pillow to the Ablegamers Charity.

Simply back us with the reward of your choice, and then include it as one of the optional add-ons. The pillow donations will of course be at cost, and we will not make any profit from them.

Nadim (right) began his gaming career on the Commodore 64 and the Sega Master System, before developing an obsession with Command and Conquer. Since then, he moved onto FPS games before finally broadening his horizons in recent years. In his spare time he’s held down a career in Marketing and Communication.

Hilal (left) started his career as a gamer in his early teens primarily as a PC enthusiast. In his early twenties he transitioned to console gaming with a passion for FPS and RPG games. In his spare time he has acted as COO and CEO for several startups in the tech and finance space.

As the year 2020 unfolded, we found ourselves besieged in our lairs, fighting daily battles online against the myriad monsters and aliens at our doors. Sadly, discomfort, shoulder, and neck pain would go hand in hand with sessions of Destiny, Fifa, and Fortnite.

Then one day, eurika! A vision struck and specs were etched in our minds. The workbenches were readied and a great weapon was forged. Using only the finest materials, woven by the most skillful elves, a first of its kind, hand crafted gaming pillow was born.

It came to be known as The Valari, a true legendary piece of gear that would change our lives forever. The aches and pains that had plagued us were banished to the pre pillow days of yore.

It is then that our true quest began… to arm all gamers everywhere with the ultimate weapon of comfort, The Valari.
