Story

ZEROO T9 & T9-01 UFO Automatic Tourbillon Watches

Since launching our first ZEROO Tourbillon T1 in October 2020, we have introduced 8 original tourbillon watch models. Now, we proudly unveil our next-generation models: the ZEROO T9 & T9-01.

ZEROO T9 UFO

The ZEROO T9 UFO was developed as a flagship model of ZEROO’s next generation, reimagined under our design philosophy of ‘blending classic and modern,’ while honoring the traditional tourbillon style.

ZEROO T9-01 UFO

ZEROO T9-01 UFO is a skeletonized model crafted to showcase the intricate beauty of the tourbillon movement. This next-generation tourbillon enhances the allure of the best-selling T4 series, evolving into a unique, innovative case design.

The concept of the next-generation ZEROO models, T9 & T9-01

ZEROO’s previous tourbillon series focused primarily on hand-wound movements, but many ZEROO owners and fans expressed a strong desire for an automatic tourbillon. In response, the new T9 and T9-01 models were developed as the most refined next-generation models, featuring a new design that emphasizes curved elegance and marks a significant evolution from previous models.

The T9 reimagines a traditional open-dial style with a modern touch, allowing a clear view of the tourbillon movement’s beautiful carriage. This model focuses on the carriage’s elegance, achieving a minimalist yet sophisticated design.

The T9-01 carries forward ZEROO’s signature skeleton design, crafted as a next-generation skeleton tourbillon. Every element, from the dial frame to the rotor, has been reimagined to perfectly complement the curves of the new tonneau-shaped case.

Details of the ZEROO T9 & T9-01 UFO

The latest models, T9 & T9-01, embody a more refined expression of the unique character that has defined the ZEROO tourbillon series.

Automatic Tourbillon Movement

The T9 & T9-01 models are equipped with the Cal. ZT09 Automatic Tourbillon Movement. For the T9-01 skeleton model, a new frame was designed to allow a side view of the movement, enhancing its structural appeal.

Equipped with a New-Generation Carriage

The heart and main attraction of this watch, the tourbillon, features an ultra-precise movement fit for a next-generation model. The free-sprung system achieves exceptional accuracy by adjusting the balance’s inertia directly, without using a regulator pin. Crafting this movement demands advanced techniques, and we leverage ZEROO’s highest level of expertise in its production.

Our wish is for you to fully appreciate the refined shape of this carriage, the precision and complexity of its movements, and the technical intrigue of the mechanism.

The Beauty of the Automatic Movement and Rotor

The back of the T9 & T9-01 features a skeleton design, allowing you to admire the beautifully crafted rotor, specifically designed for these models. As you move your wrist, the gravity-driven rotor spins freely, transferring rotational energy through the gears to wind the mainspring.

The T9 model uses a silver-colored rotor, while the T9-01 is equipped with a rose gold rotor.

Twin Barrel

The T9 series movement, like many of ZEROO’s previous tourbillons, features a twin-barrel system with two mainsprings. When fully wound, it provides a 60-hour power reserve.

Frame Design

The T9-01 carries on the full-skeleton identity established by the ZEROO T1, adopting a frame structure that secures the movement within the case without concealing it. This design exposes the mechanism while integrating the frame as a protective part of the structure, ensuring the heart of the watch is safeguarded.

An Unprecedented New Tonneau-Shaped Case

One of the standout features of the T9 & T9-01 is the curved tonneau-shaped case. The soft curves create a smooth, edge-free form, achieving a refined and sophisticated design. This evolution of previous models, enhanced by ZEROO’s unique creativity, embodies a new level of elegance.

The Origin of the T9 & T9-01 UFO Name

The side of the case features small windows that reveal the movement’s interior. These side windows are made from high-transparency K9 glass. The shape of the case and the windows evoke the image of a spaceship, inspiring the ‘UFO’ name. In line with ZEROO’s core concept, the T9 & T9-01 allow the beauty of the movement to be appreciated by using a skeletonized case, ensuring the intricate mechanism inside remains visible and enjoyable.

About ZEROO TIME Brand

Our History

At ZEROO, we have developed eight types of tourbillons based on our design philosophy of ‘blending classic and modern.’ We are passionate about reimagining the traditional tourbillon—a classic technology invented in the late 18th century—into a contemporary style.

The movement of a mechanical watch is extraordinarily complex, with the tourbillon, perpetual calendar, and minute repeater known as the three major complications of mechanical watches in horology, or simply ‘complications.’ Their intricate structures, rich history, and technical beauty have captivated watch enthusiasts worldwide. Among them, the tourbillon stands out for its elegance and allure.

At ZEROO, we are driven by a desire to reimagine the classic tourbillon in a contemporary, stylish form that enhances the appeal of mechanical watches. It feels almost wasteful to conceal the mechanical beauty of such movements behind a dial. Our goal is to create timepieces where the intricate motions of the tourbillon carriage are fully visible and can be appreciated. This vision has been the heart of every model, from the first T1 to our latest creations.

An Affordable Tourbillon from Tokyo to the World

At ZEROO, we handle everything in our Tokyo office and workshop, from design and development to assembly, inspection, quality control, and repairs. By ordering components based on our original concepts from parts manufacturers and assembling them in-house, we have successfully reduced indirect costs.

The tourbillon, once considered a luxury only for the elite, is now within reach. ZEROO is committed to launching stylish tourbillons at accessible prices. Since the release of the T1, ZEROO tourbillons have gained a strong following worldwide. As of September 2024, we have authorized dealers in 17 countries and 13 stores across Japan.

Development Story

The T9 series was developed to further evolve ZEROO’s iconic tourbillon models, the T4/T4-01. Over the years, we have crafted many tonneau-shaped cases, each one holding a special place in our hearts. This time, however, we approached development with the goal of achieving greater refinement and creating a model that would symbolize the next generation of ZEROO.

For ZEROO, no model development has ever been easy. With the T9 & T9-01, we went through numerous design trials to create a case worthy of housing the new, beautiful automatic tourbillon.

After creating prototypes and numerous iterations, we decided to offer two case finishes for the T9 and T9-01 series: Satin and Polished. The Satin case delivers a cool, chic impression, while the Polished case captivates with its fluid and artistic appeal.

Made in JAPAN

The T9 & T9-01 are assembled in our atelier at ZEROTIME headquarters in Hachioji, Tokyo. The assembly of a mechanical watch, especially a tourbillon, is considered a skill of final adjustments. Simply shaping it into a wristwatch is only the starting point.

ZEROO’s tourbillons are born from the craftsmanship where even the slightest screw tension affects precision. It’s a deeply intricate world, where only extensive assembly experience and accumulated expertise truly make a difference.

T9 & T9-01 Color Variations

The T9 offers 4 color variations. The silver case is available in both satin and polished finishes, while the black case comes exclusively in a satin finish.

The T9-01 offers three color variations. The silver case is available in both satin and polished finishes, while the black case comes exclusively in a satin finish.
