Financial support for Acute Leukemia medical treatment to help Miles Elaco
Hello everyone.
Our wonderful friend Miles Elaco is unwell and is currently admitted at Southern Philippines Medical Center due to Acute Leukemia.
Everyone who has had the pleasure of meeting Miles knows that she is the embodiment of selflessness. She uses her God-given talent of creating soulful and nourishing dishes to feed everyone who comes under her wing, especially her community.
She feeds many underprivileged and disaster-stricken families through a volunteer-led feeding program, Art Relief Mobile Kitchen.
Armed with years of experience being a farmer’s daughter, she has helped uplift small communities by educating them on growing their own food for sustainability.
She is a community organizer who never held back in sharing her time, skills, and knowledge to help everyone thrive.
Moreover, she is a loving mother and the kindest friend to so many of us. Her kitchen is witness to so many people who found healing in her food and friendship, and we are so grateful to have this chance to help her at a time she needs it most.
At present, she is under monitoring for 21 days at Southern Philippines Medical Center, Davao City. She is currently receiving blood transfusion for her initial diagnosis, Acute Leukemia. We are already on day 9 of confinement (Jan 13th), and by the end of 21 days she will have a biopsy to know if she’s on the road to recovery or needs additional intensive treatment.
Cost estimation for the initial treatment is 500k php (71k HKD) because there will be at least 21 days of transfusion and medication. Each set of meds roughly costs 12k to 15k a day (total 315k php) and 1 bag of blood usually costs 1,500 php. The minimum required per day is 6 bags depending on the outcome of blood tests (total 189k php). On top of the costs for the initial treatment there is a substantial shortfall of income for Miles and her entire family for an undefined period of time. That’s why we set the target of the fundraiser to double the amount needed for the first 21 days.
Miles needs further tests and monitoring, and we’re constantly looking for blood donors to supply her daily need of platelets and hematocrit to make up for the blood loss.
Your donation will go a long way in supporting Miles’ healing. She’s excited to get back to health and keep doing what she does best, feeding everyone soulful food that heals and nourishes.
Thank you so much for your time and we’re so grateful if you can donate or even just share this to your timelines and feeds to help reach more people who can help.
Thank you!
