A kind yet delusional man makes a film starring his recently deceased parents.

Story

Ben Evans leads a simple life: He cares for his sick parents, watches his favorite movie on repeat, and earns a living at the local bookstore. His world shifts when he’s introduced to the eccentric filmmaking guru, Jim Bradley. Jim’s mantra, “it’s the doing that matters,” inspires Ben to dust off his stagnation and use his recently deceased parents as actors in his very first film.

The film is based on a short story from Bird Box author, Josh Malerman.

A BEN EVANS FILM is an exploration of the impact grief can have, as well as whimsical lengths one has to go to in order to achieve a dream. Which, for us, is a metaphor for how us as artists should not let anything or anyone stand in the way of accomplishing our dreams. Ben is the wild and eccentric side in all of us that aspires to achieve.

A BEN EVANS FILM is currently in the developmental stage: shaping the script to the best it can be, hiring a locations manager, casting director, and executive producer. All of which will be pivotal in getting us to the next stage: pre-production.

We are seeking to raise $50,000 to cover those costs. And if we go beyond that? Well, those funds will go into pre-production costs: securing talent, covering lawyer fees, and acquiring an Assistant Director to provide a breakdown and shooting schedule.

The overall budget for the film totals just over 350,000. The money we gather from this campaign will roll into that budget. For investment opportunities, reach out to us at magicaljungleproductions@gmail.com

Our shooting schedule allows us a 17-day shoot in the Detroit area. We aim to shoot Summer of 2024 and release into the world Fall of 2025. We hope you find this project exciting and join us on this journey.
