In this twist-packed, vintage psychological thriller, nothing is quite as it seems.

Story

Film Preview

In this 1950s psychological thriller, a young artist receives a visit from a mysterious art collector. As the night stretches on and the two women begin to learn more about each other, a murderous puzzle begins to come together in a way neither one expects. In the footsteps of Sleuth (1972) and Clue (1985), Details leaves us to question if anything—or anyone—is quite as it seems.

(Pssst! Want an official trailer instead of this lame paragraph? Wondering what those big twists are and dying to know how it ends? Help us fund the film to find out!)

The Director

So great to meet you! My name is Jacob Shaw; I’m a young filmmaker from Chicago currently studying linguistics and film in Boston. I am thrilled to make Details my feature directorial debut.

Over the past decade, I’ve been grateful to wear many hats—writer, producer, director, actor—for both screen and stage. I was humbled to earn the title of Best Junior Filmmaker in Hollywood for my first short Circuit Breaker (2013), which headlined seven film festivals around the world, and I’ve directed and produced a number of nationally and internationally award-winning short films since.  Along the way, I’ve had the deep privilege of working with seasoned names in filmmaking (Peter Exline, Rino Liberatore, Leah Adler) and others (Elias Ginsberg, Jacob Ehrlich, Emai Lai) that I look forward to seeing take Hollywood by storm in years to come!

Details will mark my first foray into feature filmmaking. It is based on brilliant English playwright Richard James’s Blood on Canvasthe first stage play I directed back in high school. The story holds a soft spot in my heart not just for that reason, but also for my being a voracious lover of great twists and mysteries and for the sophisticated and dynamic female leads that hold it all together. And now Richard James has given us permission to adapt it for the screen.

This project means a lot to me and to everyone involved. With your support, I look forward to launching my future as a filmmaker and continuing to entertain, inspire, and foster conversation for years to come.

Why Support Details?

As with my past work, I am taking a prudent, resourceful approach to production. However, no feature-length films are created without incurring significant expense, usually upwards of $5 million. We can do this in $100K. And to make the expenses worth it, we’re going to do this right—that means professional-standard cinema equipment, top-notch actors, wardrobe and set-dressing to faithfully portray the period, and most importantly everyone on set gets compensated fairly.

For that reason, I ask for your support. This film will not be possible without the generous crowdfunding efforts of friends, family, and the broader community. Together, $100K will enable us to make Details come alive in the way it deserves and that will resonate with audiences.

Also, please note that the preset contribution amounts are merely suggestions—feel free to contribute any amount that you feel comfortable with.

Truly, we appreciate any support you can give us, even if it’s just a share on Facebook. Thank you so much.

Other Ways You Can Help

We understand what a challenging couple years this has been for everyone—we wouldn’t even have come this far if it weren’t for your tremendous kindness and generosity.

Since some of us just can’t contribute money, here are some other ways you can help us:

  • We would love and appreciate it if you would share our Indiegogo page on your social media and with friends and family!
  • Did you know there’s a natural break in conversation every 20 minutes? In that break, talk about Details. Let them know about our campaign and where they can donate!
  • And again, share! If you donate just $1 and have five friends each donate $1, and they each have five friends donate $1… that only needs to happen four more times for us to reach our goal!
