We clean the environment by recycling coal ash into mineral fibers and producing sustainable items.

Story

About Our Project

Here at GCS Fibers, it’s our mission to restore and conserve our environment by turning harmful coal ash into useful mineral fiber products while generating meaningful jobs throughout our communities of operations.  Since our inception, we have created and patented the technology to do just that.   Whether it’s fly ash, bottom ash, boiler slag, wet or dry coal ash, GCS’ operations can convert millions of tons of toxic coal ash from any kind of coal each year, into 6 base mineral fibers that can be used to manufacture end-products such as paper, brake pads, textiles, building insulation, rubber, and plastics, and carbon fiber precursors.  All the while, providing as many as 500 direct jobs at each factory and cleaning up the harmful effects of coal ash across the country.

GCS was briefly operational but now has a need to relocate its operations and resume operations within as little as three months from receipt of funding.  To meet our desired outcome, we need your help.

What We Need & What You Get

We seek to raise at least $3.5 million to resume our operations, which would in turn, provide the additional revenue needed to expand our operations and build as many as 100 facilities in the U.S and across the world.

For your participation and contribution, you will become a part of GCS’ noble journey to rid the world of coal ash and its harmful effects while creating jobs and delivering high quality, sought-after mineral fibers for markets.  Your participation will give you a great sense of fulfillment as you venture with GCS to make the world a better place during our time and our children’s to come.  Just imagine driving by a GCS factory in the future or reading an article of commendation about GCS’ operations and knowing that you played a major role.

Furthermore, your contribution will earn you tangible rewards that range from company T-shirts to honorary board membership, brand ambassadorship, naming rights for GCS’ factories & corporate offices and the actual technology, just to name a few.

Should we not be able to meet our goal, we intend to use all funds raised towards our operations and then source the difference through other means.

The Impact

It is our goal to strengthen the American job market and manufacturing sector by providing quality, reasonably priced, and eco-friendly mineral fiber products to the global market.  All the while, cleaning up our environment through the repurposing of coal ash and reducing public health and energy costs for our fellow citizens.  With each of our factories being able to process as much as 1 million tons of coal ash each year while employing up to 500 people, this translates into a need for 6,000 factories and the creation of 3 million jobs just to address the coal ash currently stored in landfills and ash ponds.  Furthermore, another 100 factories creating as many as 50,000 jobs could be needed annually to process the fresh annual supply of coal ash from just the U.S coal power utilities industry.

Within the next 5 years and in addition to the jobs created from our regular mineral fiber manufacturing operations, GCS will expand its global headquarters in the U.S. that would:

  • Create 250 direct jobs;

  • Establish 3 regional headquarters throughout the U.S. that would:

  • Create 150 jobs at each regional headquarters for a combined 450 total direct jobs; and

  • Create additional 375 direct jobs through GCS’s three (3) regional equipment manufacturing facilities.

In all, one can expect GCS to generate an average of 1,465 total direct jobs each of the next 5 years from the company’s coal ash-to-mineral fiber manufacturing operations, global & regional headquarters operations, and equipment/machine manufacturing operations. In a ten-year outlook, GCS stands to generate an estimated 12,500 direct jobs and 37,500 indirect total jobs.

The GCS’  technology is the only one of its kind in the world with respect to its ability to repurpose large volumes of coal ash and possess a flexible energy utilization platform that results in high-grade mineral fibers with a minimal environmental footprint.  The patented technology has the capacity to repurpose up to 1 million metric tons of coal ash (wet ash, dry ash, bottom ash and fly ash) annually per factory into six (6) base mineral fibers at a nearly 1:1 ratio of coal ash to mineral fiber (in terms of weight).  This represents a significant breakthrough in the ability of the utilities industry to realize the beneficial processing of high volumes of coal ash. GCS’ manufacturing operations do not produce any measurable air emissions or toxic or waste discharges.  Furthermore, GCS’ mineral fiber products can be manufactured in a fire-retardant form, enabling them to withstand fires and heat up to 2,500 °F (1,372 °C) without losing form or its desirable characteristics

Risks & Mitigation Plan

We currently have a factory site in Pennsylvania that is pending the receipt of our manufacturing equipment from Asia in order to resume our manufacturing operations.

Given the global pandemic, delays could occur with the receipt of our raw materials from our various suppliers and vendors.  However, we have been working with said suppliers and vendors since the middle of 2020 on mitigations for any potential disruptions and we are confident that any possible delays would be minimal, if there will be any at all.   We also plan to keep on hand, at least a three-month inventory of raw materials at any given time in the event that there are delays across our supply chain system.

With respect to the timely delivery of our future manufacturing equipment by the manufacturers, we plan to order our equipment ahead of time in anticipation of possible delays.

We are also taking steps to protect our company from intellectual property infringement by any future competition.  To that end, we have patented our technology in our current markets of operations and intend to expand the breadth of our IP protections further with international patents and the patenting of our actual mineral fibers.
