HAUNTED HOUSE OF PANCAKES is a feature-length horror/comedy with offbeat characters, outrageous food monsters, and a thrilling food fight against the forces of evil.

In a rundown diner on Halloween night, undocumented brothers JAY and CARLOS, who work for the penny pinching owner, FRANK, discover a mysterious waffle maker that transforms the ordinary diner food into bloodthirsty, demonic creatures!

As the night unfolds, the demonic food begins to attack and devour the oddball regulars, including Jay’s longtime crush SARAH, who are all trapped in the rapidly transforming diner.

As Sentient waffles and other food items feast upon the unsuspecting customers, Sarah and Jay form an unlikely bond to fight back and survive the nightmarish ordeal. Will Sarah and Jay overcome the tasty demonic forces that surround them and escape the clutches of the Haunted House of Pancakes, or become victims of the impending food apocalypse?

Hey, I’m Nate

In 2015, I wrote my first horror film, Attack of the Killer Donuts, about a chemical accident that turns ordinary donuts into bloodthirsty monsters. The film starred C. Thomas Howell, Michael Swan, and Kayla Compton, and had its debut at 2016 at the Cannes Film Festival to a sold-out crowd. It won several festival awards, including Best Picture at the Rome International Film Festival, and was distributed worldwide by Cardinal XD and Level 33.

My follow-up film was the horror/thriller Shady Grove, about a group of friends who are assaulted at an isolated cabin in the woods by a cult of women intent on rape and murder. It won Best Feature at the Day of the Dead Film Festival and is distributed worldwide by Gravitas Ventures.

Shady Grove was the first film I co-wrote and produced outside of Hollywood, from my home in Northern Kentucky. As I began to meet other local filmmakers, I was impressed by the talent and potential of the area as a filmmaking hub, and I was determined to make my next movie here, with local talent from the tri-state area.

I’ve now assembled the perfect team to bring “Haunted House of Pancakes” to life. Including my Shady Grove co-writer and producer Niki McElroy:

Co-Writer Paul Newton:

Cinematographer John Isberg:

Producer Angie Carter Scharold

SFX supervisor and Creature designer, Nathaniel Barton

Special Effects by Stephen J. Hodke:

Editing/Post-Supervisor Jay Johnson:

Composer Christopher J. Cozzi:

With the proper funding, we can make the kind of movies we want to see and create a sustainable template for future films shot right here in our backyard. This is going to be a great movie, and I can’t wait for you to see it!

We are aiming to raise over $90,000 to complete the production of Haunted House of Pancakes. Achieving this goal will provide our team with the necessary funding to begin filming in the fall of 2023 and premiere the film by Halloween 2024.

65% of the campaign’s funding will be invested in the production of the actual film. This includes everything from creature design and fabrication to on-set production costs.

15% of funds will be held for the production of the physical perks for campaign backers.

10% of funds will be held for shipping and handling costs for both domestic and international packaging. We expect some items to ship right away, while Blu Rays can be expected by Halloween 2024.

10% of our funds will go toward our Indiegogo hosting, processing fees, and taxes.

All funds received from Indiegogo by HHOP Films will be used to cover the production costs listed above. No long-term profit will be made, and our campaign will be terminated once all phases of production are finished.

With an initial campaign goal of $50,000, only 65% of that fundraising is going toward the actual film. That is why it is important to help us not only reach our goal, but EXCEED IT!

In order to hit our budget for this film, we had to scale back a few of our more wild ideas. By hitting our stretch goals, we can put back in some of that insanity.

$60,000 – ADD A KILL MONTAGE! – Hitting this stretch goal would bring back an epic food fight kill montage from the script that involves an entire menu full of items devouring the unsuspecting diner guests! This would sky rocket our body count!

$75,000 – OUR UNCOMPROMISED ENDING! – Trust us on this one. It’s going to be epic… and expensive. We want to give fans our complete uncompromising vision, but explosives cost money. Just saying.

$90,000 –   ACTORS, ACTORS, ACTORS! – We have some big name actors waiting in the wings, but we’re only going to announce them if we can pay them what they’re worth. And trust me, they’re worth it… (hint: One of them is well known for wearing a mask, and I can’t wait to see them in a pancake mask.)

Overall, the more funding we can raise over our initial goal, the better and the bloodier the movie will be.

Our campaign offers a variety of limited-edition Haunted House of Pancakes memorabilia,  including Blu-rays, posters, screen-used props, as well as fun ways to get involved in production.
