hello again we here at Globalscale are introducing Mochabin the next generation of open source embedded computing boards! Building upon the success of ESPRESSObin and the community around it, We are releasing Mochabin, a quad core networking powerhouse for advance wireless and networking capability. Building on top of this we have partnered with some ecosystem partners to develop open source solutions in the Firewall, NAS Storage, and  SD-WAN space.  

The Mochabin builds upon the ESPRESSObin community and experience by adding a fanless quad core ARM A72 processor clocked at 1.4Ghz. We have increased from the previous maximum of 2GB DDR3 to now 4GB or optional 8GB DDR4. Most importantly the Mochabin has native 10G networking via an SFP+ cage as well as flexible slots for M.2, PCI, and MiniPCIe interfaces.

The Enclosure

 We will differentiate our product from the previous ESPRESSObin campaign by committing to a plastic enclosure tooling as part of the production. when we hit our goal we will make the commitment for injection mold tooling. Its design to house the Mochabin along with its accessories and to operate without a FAN.  Below is a CNC machined enclosure which we used for internal testing.

Applications The Mochabin is designed for a variety of Firewall, Networking, SDWAN, and NAS applications. Its designed to support 4G and 5G applications via the m.2 interface. These can be used for cellular backhaul and communications to replace the ISP modem.  With the OpenWRT and Replica One software, the Mochabin can be a open source router with multi gigabyte support and 4x  Gb LAN.

Mochabin powered by Cubbit. CubbitCell is a  distributed NAS company that recently raised 7 Million Euro Venture Capital following up their successful Kickstarter campaign. The original Cubbit Cell used our ESPRESSObin platform as the networking heart of the device. We are following up on this partnership by porting the CubbitCell distributed NAS solution onto the quad core Mochabin opening up faster networking and processing speeds

We will also be shipping the device with a 2TB NAS grade HDD with options for 4TB drive if desired

Mochabin powered by Sartura.  As a vital software partner behind the ESPRESSObin, Sartura will provide critical deliveries to strengthen the Mochabin software ecosystem. The Mochabin platform will leverage mainline Linux, OpenWRT, and Replica.one support out of the box.
