OVERVIEW

Set in 1900s England, a young woman, Alice, is haunted by another woman, Isla, who was brutally murdered 13 years earlier. Full of unsettling ideas, horror and dread, Dark Sister is a short gothic ghost story, written and directed by filmmaker, Alex Proyas. 

Filmed entirely on green screen and currently in the post-production phase, Dark Sister is a proof-of-concept film, created to showcase the capabilities of virtual production through green-screen and LED panels.

Short films have so much potential, though they are hardly funded and appreciated in the same way often seen with features. 

Passionate about indie film – short films in particular – Heretic Foundation and Mystery Clock Cinema began the journey to create blockbuster quality films at a fraction of the price. Bringing the creativity of filmmakers together, with the possibilities of virtual production, opens the door for new and unique stories to be told.

DARK SISTER is on the home straight, ready for completion. Our goal is not the total amount we need to complete the film, but it says a lot when audiences support the projects they want to see. With your backing, not only will we be able to prove that audiences can and DO support artists and media that they love, but we will be able to continue to make films that step outside the previous realms of possibility, with significantly reduced financial requirements.

When so little funding is given to short films, it becomes even more difficult to realise and showcase the potential of the artists and their methodology.

We truly believe we can create a shift in filmmaking, away from the financially exclusive Hollywood, and toward a diverse legion of creatives with vibrant, unique and exciting stories to tell. 

Funds from this project will go directly to completing the post-production work of the film, which, until now, was entirely self-funded up to $AUD250,000
