Story

Summary

Hello friends, family, creatives, and fellow movie lovers! We’re Nick Cassidy and David Rice, cousins and co-creators of Fallen Drive, an independent feature film that we wrote and produced in 2021.

After making home videos on our own from the time we were kids, we began collaborating on short films together several years ago when David moved from Maine to Los Angeles to pursue a filmmaking career. Together we made a series of no-budget shorts, utilizing whatever resources were available (an iPhone, an apartment, home editing software, etc.) and whichever friends had an afternoon free to round out our cast and crew.

After completing a handful of these short films, we decided it was time to take our moviemaking to the next level and produce our first feature-length project. The only problem was that we were still working regular jobs, had no disposable income, and couldn’t afford to take off the weeks or months it typically takes to prep and shoot a feature film.

The solution was to write a film that could be shot quickly and inexpensively. We resolved to see it through to completion, even if that meant filming it in our apartment, on a camera phone, in only three days. Whatever it took.

Fortunately, it didn’t come to that.

Thanks to the support of our Executive Producers Maryana Dvorska and Cash Cassidy, we were able to bring in enough money to hire some extremely talented professionals (ie. our cinematographer Josua Fischer and first AD/Associate Producer Yelena Krivosheyeva) and complete principle photography over the course of just 10 days. Our film also won acceptance into the MovieMaker Production Services program, allowing us to stretch our budget and get our camera and grip/lighting packages at half the list price.

Fallen Drive is a thriller set in one house on the night of a high school reunion party, where two of the attendees, Reese and Charlie, have arrived with a plan to exact revenge on a former classmate. It’s a movie that focuses on a handful of characters living in the grey space between right and wrong, and the costly impact of their moral ambiguity.

Though we’ve come a long way from our iPhone short film days, we’re not finished just yet. Shooting Fallen Drive only gets us halfway to completion – next, we need to go through the post-production process, which is where we could really use your help. Making a feature film has been a dream of ours since we were kids and the only reason we’ve made it this far is with the help of our family, friends, and community. We’re so close! Please, if you can, help us with this final push to completion and join us in bringing Fallen Drive to the big screen.

What We Need & What You Get

We’re setting our fundraising goal at $50,000, which will be enough to get us across the finish line with post production and publicity. Your generous contributions will be used for post essentials such as picture and sound editing, color correction, original score, and film festival submission fees which will help our film be seen by a wide audience.

We have some awesome perks that you can earn from your donations — a signed shooting script, your name in the credits, a Zoom call with the team, and tickets to the LA premiere, just to name a few.

Although we fully believe we’ll have a successful campaign and reach our fundraising goal with your help and support, if it turns out we come up short, the funds we do raise won’t go to waste. Every dollar donated will still be put into the film, we’ll just take it one step at a time, starting with picture editing.

Other Ways You Can Help

We realize that donating money might not be possible for everyone, and that’s okay. If our project or filmmaking journey resonates with you and you want to support our campaign, please share the link to this page and talk about it with your friends, family, co-workers, hair stylist, book club, acting class, softball team, local government, or anyone else who loves movies and wants to be a part of making Fallen Drive a reality. Thank you!
