A Horror Comic Collection by Jeremy Haun

Story

Hi, I’m Jeremy Haun.

Over the past twenty years, I’ve worked for almost every comic book company in the industry. During that time I’ve had the chance to work on many of my favorite characters like Batman, Batwoman, Captain America, Iron Man, and so many more.

As much as I love telling stories about the superheroes we all know and love, my heart is really in creating my own worlds– telling my own stories, like The Beauty, The Realm, and The Red Mother.

Over the past year and a half, the pandemic changed our world. It was a tough time for us all. The comics industry went “pencils down,” leaving writers and artists without work. Projects were put on hold. Schedules changed in big ways. Plans had to change.

Like so many of us, that was tough for me. Both in my personal life and on a global scale, uncertainty reigned.

I went from an overfull schedule to having to reevaluate everything. I realized that for me, the thing that truly keeps me tethered is telling stories– making things.

And that’s how HAUNTHOLOGY was born.

I channeled all of the confusion, loneliness, isolation, anger, and fear I was feeling—that WE ALL were feeling—and told short horror stories that dealt with that. I made stories about nightmares, monsters, and post-apocalyptic landscapes– over 20 in all.

Sitting alone in my studio, I wrote, drew, and lettered every single page of HAUNTHOLOGY. I put everything into these stories. And honestly? It’s the best thing I’ve ever made.

I’m proud to share this book with you. Over the past year it has been my therapy.

I believe that horror takes a look at the world around us and comments on it. It’s also about ghosts and madmen, but these are also personal stories filled with emotion and reflection.

I’m pulling out all the stops to make HAUNTHOLOGY as epic as possible.

The Kickstarter campaign was an incredible success, unlocking more pages, more stories and all kinds of cool variants and fun add-ons.

HAUNTHOLOGY is a beautiful, oversized black-and-white hardcover short story comic book collection of 176 pages.

Every story in this collection was completely written, drawn, and lettered by me. Each step of creating these short stories was both a passion and learning experience. It was me making comics without compromise AND becoming a better storyteller along the way.

Okay, look…shipping is OUTRAGEOUS right now. Truly. ESPECIALLY if you live outside of the States. There’s no getting around that.

I’ve done everything I can to seek out the most affordable shipping method for all countries. It’s better…but still not great.

If the cost of shipping means that you can’t support HAUNTHOLOGY, I completelyunderstand. I still appreciate you, your support, and while it’s not a physical copy, I hope that you’ll at least consider the digital version of the book.

Here’s a quick, easy breakdown of shipping by zone/region–

I’ve been lucky enough to be able to tell stories in the comics industry for twenty years now. I’m INCREDIBLY grateful for that.

This past year was hard. It changed so much for all of us. When the comics industry went pencils down, I went from knowing what the next year of my life and finances looked like…to absolute uncertainty.

During that time I was on my own. During that time I saw my community– YOU, my friends and fans step up, say that you love my work, and show me support. Because of that, I chose to make HAUNTHOLOGY as special as possible.

While I created all of the stories for HAUNTHOLOGY, I didn’t build this project on my own. I’m absolutely grateful to the team of kind, giving, creative people that helped me bring this project to life. They worked tirelessly to help edit, film, design, organize, and prepare this project for you. They kept me going and…mostly sane throughout this process.

Risks & Challenges

Risks and challenges

As of the start of this project, I will have almost all story and design content finished and ready to go. Another thing that will help immensely on this project is that since we’ve done this before, we know what to expect on fulfillment and have a much better idea of the amount of work and time needed!

While we strive to make sure that everything is as close to our prototypes and mockups as possible, there may be some differences in the actual product. Please keep in mind that many of the items in this campaign are hand-made so slight variations between individual products is expected.

Due to differences in computer colors, actual items may vary in color from what you see on your screen.

There is always the possibility of unforeseen events causing delays (I’ve learned to just roll with it over the past year… I think we all have.) but I will be updating Backers with any delays in the unlikely event that they should arise.

Other Ways You Can Help

Finally, I want to take an extra moment to thank YOU for helping bring HAUNTHOLOGY to life. The truth is that without you and your support, projects like HAUNTHOLOGY can’t happen.

As much as this project helped me during a tough year, it needs to be seen, read, and shared. I’m excited to do that.

And if you know of someone who loves comics, horror, or short stories—someone who might dig this—please share it with them. Sharing these projects with friends, family, and on social media is how these projects grow and get made.

Let’s do this together.
