After the electrifying reception of its initial run in the NYC theater scene, an adaptation of Homunculus for the screen is now in pre-production. It’s an absolutely singular vision for a film adaptation of a play. By combining elements of both mediums, this film looks to elevate the source material into a spectacle unlike anything seen before. 

 

That’s Homunculus

Director Owen Kibby and playwright Santiago Mallan have joined forces to create an ambitious debut feature film. Making use of the play’s original cast, the film will be shot in a Brooklyn soundstage over the month of July.

By contributing resources to this production, you’ll be helping to make a this singular vision possible. 

 

What We Need & What You Get

We’ll be shooting in a soundstage, the set is being custom fabricated, the costumes made from scratch, (spoiler alert) we’re bring in an aerial stunt team, around 100 extras, and the list only continues. To do any of it the right way costs quite a lot.  

Further, a wonderful New York based crew is being assembled to bring this project to life on set. It is our goal to make sure that everyone, cast and crew, walk away from this film paid fairly. There will certainly be no shortage of favors called in to make miracles happen, but that can’t be what our production hinges upon.

Risks & Challenges

Our goal is a reflection of the high built in costs of a production of this nature. If we can hit our target of $60,000, we believe we can execute our vision for this film.

We also believe that there are versions of this film that could theoretically be made with less money. We’ve decided to utilize a flexible goal in order to make sure that no matter what the outcome this campaign reaches, a movie gets made.
