“Get on your bikes and ride!”

I love Queen.  But more on that later.

In February of this year, my boyfriend and I decided to buy a Peloton. Side note: Adulting can be fun.

So, anyway, back in February, we were ecstatic when the Peloton delivery truck pulled up next the curb outside of our home. Within minutes the guys had our shiny new girl set up in the basement of our home.  Enough with the instructions. We were ready to ride!

As I waited my turn to hop on, I picked out a tune for my first ride. Fat-Bottomed Girls was the obvious choice. On I went. I was riding, singing, and all was well until 9 minutes into my ride. Something was very wrong.

I practically fell off of my bike.

I was in so much pain that I was on the verge of tears. And for people that know me, crying is not what I do.

What was going on?

I was in serious pain. And I was numb. And it was in all of the wrong spots. My boyfriend consoled me (while laughing at me and the very odd way I was holding myself) and told me that I was probably going through a breaking in period. I would adjust.

I didn’t.

I even called my sister one day and started a conversation like this “How in the [blank] do you keep your [blank] from hurting when you’re on your bike?” She dropped the phone laughing. When she composed herself, she said matter-of-fact, “You just have to toughen your [blank].”

It wouldn’t.

So, I started looking for every solution I could find. Wow, if you could only read what I put in my Google search over the next couple of weeks.

I ordered padded shorts. I ordered padded underwear to wear with my padded shorts. I ordered padded seat covers to wear with my padded shorts that had my padded underwear tucked underneath. I looked like a baby that was in desperate need of a diaper change.

Guess what? It didn’t work.

I still fell off of my bike in pain. There was no way I was going to make it through a HIIT class with Jennifer Jacobs or hustling with Robin Arzon as she dropped an F bomb or two. And, I had just spent a mint on my bike!

Then one day it happened.

I was talking with a friend about business and she asked if I would talk with a group from Longford, Kansas, about a product they were bringing to market.

And what do you know, it was a new bicycle saddle that was made to reduce what? The numbness and pain so many people get when riding a bike.

So, that, my friends, is what brings me here today.

I’m not an investor in the saddle, only a future customer of the solution that I found – the SmartSaddleTM. I want to share with you over the next few weeks what I learned about the SmartSaddleTM and how it might impact you.

In the meantime, I snuck a few prototypes out of the small facility that’s set up in Longford, so, you know where I’ll be… I’ll be on my bike to ride!
