With the world starting to get back to normal pre-Coronavirus and countries beginning to open up borders, your travel plans might soon get back on track. Even if you had no travel plans, the lockdowns have taught us to live life to the fullest. That, somehow, encompasses traveling more, meeting new people, and learning about other people’s cultures and ways of life. Where you travel, though, gets better depending on where you stay.

This upcoming B&B in Canada, a Queer & Black-owned farm-to-table B&B, is a promising travel area for all the relaxing, reconnecting, and restoration one might need after these lockdowns. The Golden Gaze Bed & Breakfast has plans to open in 2021, giving you enough time to see how the fight against the Coronavirus goes, while saving for that vacation.

The creator’s goal is to create an eco-friendly vacation spot for anyone in need of a place to sit back, rewind, heal, and enjoy the region’s beautiful mountainous scenery. The B&B is hoping to achieve this by combining the below:

  • Nourishing features like a farm-to-table, homemade breakfast and snacks
  • Optional packages for self- and relationship- coaching using the Enneagram
  • Sustainable dome-style cabins to feel a part of nature genuinely
  • Relaxing and nature-inspired amenities

Golden Gaze will also operate under five core values:

  1. Connection
  2. Sustainability
  3. Equity and Justice
  4. Growth
  5. Community

In this sense, the team says it will maintain a healthy and beneficial relationship with the local’s residents of the area and the indigenous people of Ktunaxa who are found in the region.

  • Golden Gaze will be offering:
  • 4 king-sized bed cabins with one bed and bath
  • A designated smoking area, Roheenee’s Hippie Haven
  • Woodburning sauna
  • Meditation/yoga sanctuary
  • Farm-to-table style breakfast
  • Daily midday snacks
  • Botanical steam bar for facials
  • Outdoor gazebo for events and lounging
  • Charcoal grill
  • Homemade meals for purchase
  • WiFi access

In addition, one can engage in the below activities:

  • Hiking
  • Water rafting
  • Kayaking/canoeing
  • Horseback riding
  • Snowboarding/skiing
  • Parasailing
  • Mountain biking
  • Wildlife interaction

The team is currently crowdfunding on Indiegogo, seeking CAD 300,000 (about $ 225,284) in funding to help them secure credit from traditional funders. So far, the team has about 105 backers raising CAD 19,350, with over a month to go in the crowdfunding campaign.

The team offers redeeming options for backers once they meet their funding goal and after constructing the retreat area. The challenges include obtaining funding so that the team can finally place a downpayment for the property where the retreat will be located. While it’s promising that the property is available for purchase, it’s also a con not knowing whether the property or any other property within the area will still be available if the team manage to raise funding.

The best assurance of the investment for backers is, perhaps, the promise of a refund of their investment if the team does not manage to meet their funding goal.

About the Team
