Bio-Motion Enhanced Safety | 57% More Visible | Auto On/Off | Modular LEDs | Rugged & Waterproof

Story

Staying visible is the best way to keep yourself safe on the bike. The Arclight Pedals amplify your biological motion making you up to 57% more visible than standard bike lights. Powerful LEDs and long lasting rechargeable batteries ensure you will stand out and stay safe even on your longest ride.

The unmistakable circular movement of the Arclight Pedals attracts the attention of motorists and pedestrians – instantly identifying you as a cyclist. Scientific studies performed by Clemson University and others show that adding bio-motion (motion that is associated with the natural movement of the human body) increases visibility by up to 57% compared to standard front/rear lights.

Standard bike lights are often difficult to distinguish from car lights, traffic lights, and building lights. The dynamic motion of the Arclight Pedals creates a unique visual signature, cutting through the visual clutter to maximize visibility and safety.

Standard bike lights are typically visible only from directly behind or in front of the bicycle; with limited visibility from the sides. The wraparound design of the Arclight LED modules illuminates every angle – providing 360° of protection. The lights also cast a unique glowing pattern on the ground as you pedal, creating a large light “footprint” that is uniquely noticeable from all directions.

Arclight’s SmartSet sensors turn the lights on automatically when you start riding, and turn off automatically when you park your bike. They’re on when you need them and off when you don’t.

The Arclight Pedals are packed with SmartSet sensors that dynamically change the LED color depending on orientation so you always have white forward and red rear.

The Arclight Modules have a built-in USB plug, so you can charge the Light Module with any standard USB charger, or charge all 4 together using the included hub.

The Pedals are made from rugged aluminum alloy and employ the same sealed bearings used in high end MTB pedals. The Light Modules have been engineered to work reliably in all conditions. Wherever and whenever you ride, the Arclight Pedals won’t hold you back.

How does the color-switch work?

If you want even more visibility, or need to quickly add lights to a bike without Arclight Pedals, the Multi-Mount allows you to attach the Light Modules to any bike in seconds; no tools needed.

The Light Modules easily slide into the Multi-Mount with the same rock-solid magnetic locking attachment as the pedals. Depending on the mount location, SmartSet technology automatically selects the correct colors for front and rear.

Arclight Pedals are compatible with almost any bicycle. Just unscrew your current pedals, screw on the Arclight Pedals, slide in the light modules, and you’re ready to ride!

Shipping and Taxes (or VAT, if applicable) will be separately charged when we are ready to ship your reward. You’ll be able to pay these costs through BackerKit, a post-campaign order management tool.

Due to unusually high shipping costs caused by global supply chain issues, we will be charging shipping just prior to fulfillment, in the hopes that costs will decrease.

The table below represents our best estimate of shipping costs.

Customers based in the US, EU, UK, Canada, and Australia will be charged for VAT or other applicable taxes (via BackerKit) when we are ready to ship your reward.

Customers based in all other countries will be responsible for any import duties, taxes and customs fees after the shipment arrives in their country.

Redshift was born on crowdfunding. 8 years ago, the crowdfunding community helped us turn a product idea into a company. We launched our first campaign in 2013 and we were blown away by the response. Fast forward a few years and we have 3 successful campaigns under our belt (Switch Aero System, ShockStop Stem, and ShockStop Seatpost). We are lucky to have some of the best supporters around, and because of the crowdfunding community’s support, we have been able to pursue our passion for designing and building the highest quality bike components.

Since our first crowdfunding campaign, we’ve grown a lot as a company. We have several product lines, an amazing group of customers, an established supply chain and manufacturing partners, and worldwide distribution! But, at our core, we’re still a small dedicated group passionate about making products that solve real problems for real cyclists.  We still design, engineer, test, assemble, and package all of our products in our Philadelphia workspace. We will always strive to make unique, impactful products while maintaining our high standards of quality and customer service.

This isn’t our first crowdfunding rodeo. At Redshift, we’ve been designing and manufacturing complex bicycle components for the last 8 years. We have strong existing relationships with key suppliers and manufacturers, and we know (from first-hand experience) the technical risks and challenges of taking an idea and turning it into a real product.

The transition from a prototype (even a really good prototype) to a finished, manufactured product is a huge leap – one that many crowdfunding creators underestimate (ourselves included in past Kickstarter/Indiegogo campaigns). With the Arclight Pedals we decided to do things differently. We completed the transition from prototype to manufacturing before launching the campaign, knowing that this would reduce risks and enable us to start fulfilling backer rewards as quickly as possible. There are so many variables these days affecting worldwide supply chains and logistics, so reducing the uncertainty associated with these variables is critical.

We’ve been working hand-in-hand with our manufacturing partners for the past year to prepare the Arclight Pedals for manufacturing. Production tooling for both the pedals and light modules is complete, and we’ve been riding and testing production samples for several months. Last month we officially issued the purchase orders to the factories for the first production run.  Obviously,  we won’t know exactly what quantity is needed until the campaign concludes, but we think it’s worth moving forward at-risk so we can ultimately get the Arclight Pedals into your hands as quickly as possible.

At Redshift, the safety of our components is our number one priority, full stop. Exhaustive testing is a cornerstone of our company’s commitment to safety, and pedals are an especially critical component on the bike – after all, they have to support your entire body weight while rotating smoothly for millions of pedal strokes! The Arclight Pedals have already passed the stringent fatigue and impact tests specified by the international ISO standards for bicycle parts, and we’ve subjected the light modules to extensive water, dust, impact, and vibration testing. We’re confident that they will stand up to whatever you can throw at them.
