Otherverse The Official Trading Card Game (TCG)

Story

Kickstarter blister packs will contain the same contents are a regular Kickstarter booster box. Each pack will contain 7 cards with 5 non-holo, 1 regular holo and 1 gold foil.

  • 1 out of 4 packs contains a Super Rare (replacing the gold foil).
  • 1 out of 24 packs contains a Secret Rare (replacing the gold foil).

Stay tuned to the update on day 3 for a detailed breakdown and examples of what a Secret Rare can be.

Structured decks are the best way to learn to play Otherverse TCG. They contain pre-built decks, one for Magma Infernal Dragon and the other for Crystal Fang Ice Dragon. Each deck will contain 5 gold foil textured cards that are exclusive to the decks and 55 non-holo cards.

  • 1 out of 4 decks contains a unique gold foil dragon that is exclusive to the structured deck.
  • 1 out of 25 decks contains an alternative Secret Rare dragon that is exclusive to the decks.

These structured decks also contains a rule book/quick start guide and tokens to play.

The Kickstarter booster box is the easiest item to allow you to collect every single card from the Hidden Void base set. An update on day 3 will break down the booster box, the rarities, the average number of hits and what the box and cases will contain. A case contains 12 Kickstarter booster boxes.

The collector box in part is meant to cut down on non-foil bulk and offer more collector value. Each of these will contain a unique promo specific to the collector chest.   For a special preview of Death, Brink of Chaos:

An update on day 5 will break down the Collector Chest and show renders of all three of the promo cards with its distribution.

This is the grail of collectors. An update on day 8 will break down the Pandora Box, the number of hits and the details. We have revealed more about the Pandora Box on Discord if you want a sneak peek but there’s more than what we’ve shown you. Stay tuned!

Otherverse Tokens are used for Life Points (LP) and Exhaustion Points (EP) within the game. The design for the tokens represent the current 5 different clans and will contain 30 Life Point tokens and 5 Exhaustion Point tokens at the least. They will be high quality ceramic similar to Poker chips.

These custom acrylic boxes will be custom made with the highest quality material we can source. More details on them to be shared.

The playmat shown is the DFW Collect-a-Con unofficial playmat and not the ones you are pledging for. An update on day 4 will show off the official playmats with the alternate art, special borders and more.

An update on day 9 will break down the draft box, a box that is unique and made specifically for players that love to draft. It will contain 1 of each structured deck, 6 Kickstarter booster packs, paper playmat, rulebook and tokens. There will be a unique promo of the battle scene that is unique to the draft box. More on that during the update!

Did you ever want your own art or card on an Otherverse Card? During the sample Kickstarter, this was a big hit. Not only will you get to create your won card but you will also get the 1/1 of the card you design.

MORE add-ons to come!

Note that more add-ons will be announced and shared throughout the campaign. Some very exclusive items are being added. Can you guess what they are?

Although this is NOT one of the items (or should it), it should give you a hint of about one of them.

The Death Trainee tier is a great entry level tier especially if you are new to Otherverse TCG or if have specific add-ons that you want. The pledge comes with 2 blister packs, the Kickstarter promo and all applicable stretch goals on all tiers.

The Spider Queen Warrior is our player focused tier. It consists of the Crystal Fang Ice Dragon Structured Deck and the Kickstarter promo.

The Flame Princess Paladin tier consists of the Kickstarter Booster Box and a Kickstarter promo.

The Rorusake Champion tier is the collector tier with one Alt Death Collector Chest, 1 Kickstarter Booster box and 1 Kickstarter promo. The Collector Chests is introduced here and has 2 God Packs (6 Super Rare and 1 Secret Rare per pack) and 6 Kickstarter packs along with a unique promo.

The Dragon Queen Hero tier is the ultimate tier for collectors. It consists of:

  • Pandora Box (BGS slab, 5 God Packs and 1 metal coin to be redeemed later).
  • Dragon Queen Collector Chest (2 God Packs, 6 Kickstarter regular packs)
  • 12 boxes (1 case) of Kickstarter Booster Boxes.  Each case has a 1/1 signed case topper.
  • 1 serialized silver metal Dragon Queen – Full Power 1/100 card.
  • 1 Kickstarter Promo.

This is a stacked tier with a ton of product for collectors. What slab would you pull?

The Void God tier is for the Gods of the Otherverse. There is so much that is packed into this tier. It consists of:

  • 3 x Pandora Box (BGS slab, 5 God Packs and 1 metal coin to be redeemed later).
  • 2 x Dragon Queen Collector Chest (2 God Packs, 6 Kickstarter regular packs)
  • 2 x Rose of Respite Collector Chest (2 God Packs, 6 Kickstarter regular packs)
  • 2 x Alt Death Collector Chest (2 God Packs, 6 Kickstarter regular packs)
  • 3 cases (36 boxes) of Kickstarter Booster Boxes.  Each case has a 1/1 signed case topper meaning you get three 1/1 signed cards.
  • 6 x Magma Inferno Flame Dragon Structured Decks.
  • 6 x Crystal Fang Ice Dragon Structured Decks.
  • 1 serialized gold metal God of the Otherverse 1/10 card.
  • 1 Create your own card and get the 1/1 of that card.
  • 1 Kickstarter Promo.

This is the penultimate God of the Otherverse tier.

With the budget allocation, the card printing is one of the variable factors. We have a baseline minimum of the costs with CreativeHolo (printed in the US). We are constantly working on innovation with our partners to bring you the best possible product. Otherverse has implemented various selective holos, gold foils, metallic ink and going forward, we are continuing to add more into the Kickstarter products (more to share).

Artist Contracts: 20%

Our Otherverse artists are the foundation of our organization. Ensuring that we are able to retain our artists is important both to them and to us. At Otherverse, we believe in a true partnership to share our goals together as their art lives and breathes in the cards. In essence, they are like family to us. Jasmine Jones was one of the initial artists that was on the Otherverse team and had passed away last year. Thanks to the support of our community members, we were able to raise enough funds to start an annual scholarship fund for the arts.

Marketing, Conventions and Promotions: 10%

The project does end here with the Kickstarter project. Budget allocation is setup for marketing costs, convention attendance and as many promotions as possible going forward. Otherverse will be at all of the Collect-a-Con conventions along with many more.

Fees (Grading, Customs, Express): 15%

These fees include the grading fees for the pandora boxes, ancillary fees from our partners like Kickstarter and BackerKit.

Boxes, Packs and Chests Printing and Construction: 10%

All of the booster boxes, draft boxes, structured decks, pandora boxes, collector chests are being constructed and printed to ensure that they retain a high collectible value and deliver a luxury experience when they are opened.

Tokens, Playmats and Ancillary: 5%

The tokens, playmats and other ancillary products will need to be sourced, designed and created.

Staff Position and Labor: 5%

A staff position is required to help Otherverse be able to create cards and other assets more efficiently. Having a dedicated resource for art direction to assist Sam will ensure that we meet the necessary deadlines.

Emergency Fund / Down Payment for 1st Ed printing: 10%

Planning ahead and avoiding delays is important in any business. There are always unforeseen issues such as increases of costs that we have to allocate funds for. All of the remaining costs will be allocated as a down payment for 1st edition printing to avoid any delays.

A deck of Otherverse cards consists of 60 cards ranging from strong to weak based on a tiered system which limits the maximum number of unique cards within that tier. Card tiers will be rebalanced on a quarterly basis as well as when new cards/sets are released.

Life Points (LP): 30 Tokens

Exhaustion Points (EP): 5 Tokens

Each player has 5 card positions set from right to left, the placement for their deck and the Nether (discard pile). Life points for each player are kept on their respective side.

Setup: Begin the game with 30 life points for each player. Flip a coin to see who goes first. The person who goes first is the “aggressor” on odd turns.

Ante Life: Each player pools life points equal to the round in the center.

Draw 2, Place 3: Each player shuffles their deck and draws 2 cards. Each player flips the top 3 cards face up in the spots 1, 2 and 3 (right to left) from their deck.

Bet & Flip Twice: Each player may bet additional life points. If they do, the players must match the other’s bet or give up the pooled LP.  Additional bets must not exceed the remaining life points of the other player (going all in). Then flip 1 card from the top of your deck onto spot 4. Then repeat for spot 5.

Final Bet: Each player may bet additional life points. If they do, the players must match the other’s bet or give up the pooled LP.  Additional bets must not exceed the remaining life points of the other player (going all in).

Aggressor Replace 1: The aggressor may place face down 1 card from their hand to replace an existing face up card on their side.

Defender Replace 2: The defender may place face down 1 or 2 cards from their hand to replace existing face up cards on their side.

Aggressor Replace 1: The aggressor may place face down 1 card from their hand to replace an existing face up card on their side.

Reveal: Both players flip to reveal the face down cards at the same time.

Activate Effects: Starting with the aggressor, each player takes turns to resolve 1 card effect each until both players have resolved all cards on each side of the field. Place an Exhaustion Point on top of each card to track resolved effects.

Showdown: Compare each card directly across from each other. The player with the most wins takes the pooled life points.

Discard: Discard all cards to the Nether.

Match End: Continue to play until one player has no remaining life points. If a deck runs out of cards, shuffle. Games are played across 3 or 5 matches.

Playtest the game, get ready for the tournaments!

If you would like to play on the Table Top Simulator, you can get the Official Mod.

Community Gameplay Videos:

One of our very own Lead Playtesters at ShaunStuff covers gameplay tutorials:

I have loved collecting cards since I was a kid in the 90s. My background in Creative Design and Film Production, merged with my collecting passion, and Otherverse was born. I used to be a DBS collector and in 2021 sold my collection to fund Otherverse, a TCG about twin siblings, one good and one evil, and their story of who prevails.

It is pure joy for me to work with the artists, the team and the community. My dream is to create that same feeling of joy I had when collecting as a kid for all of us. The joy I experienced came from bonds of friendship I made along the way through opening packs, trading and playing TCGs.

I am always inspired to do more for the community, and I love to see those around me happy. Whether it’s giving cards to the community, giving to the scholarship, giving donations to children’s hospitals, it all matters and I want to do more. Giving has always been a big part of my life, and I love to see the snowball effect of paying it forward.

Growing up, I was surrounded by many doctors in my family. I went to college for neuroscience and was on track to go to medical school. For me, that path didn’t feel right and I knew deep down medicine wasn’t for me. I still wanted to give though and make a difference in the lives of people. Through Otherverse, I am able to give to everyone around me and the community and I am honored and grateful to be able to do so. It’s even better when the community continues to pay it forward regardless of what fashion they do. I want to build Otherverse into a successful TCG so that we can do a lot more for the communities around us.

Lastly, I want to thank my mother and father, my brother, my girlfriend Marissa, she is the best, my friends and all my family that supported me. I could not have done any of this without the team who knows the industry so well, the artists that brings my vision to life and the community as a whole. I am truly blessed to have everyone in my life. LET’S GO BABY!

My experience as a long term collector that specializes in graded cards and sealed product. I also have experience working with distributors and LGS from a business management. With Otherverse, my focus is making sure we position the TCG correctly on the market. It’s important to have the right ratio player/collector and the right quantity to satisfy our players while keeping the collectible aspect. I also focus on the public relation with both partners and players.

I want to see Otherverse set up a new standard for future new TCG of being respectful in what we have to offer in terms of how we are presenting the quality and collectability of the games. I’d also love to see Otherverse branch out in other markets to stay relevant and keep growing the following the TCG. In the end I hope that Otherverse can be accessible to everyone, while tending to a more mature collector market similar to the ones we see with the big established IP and in the sports world.

I have been into TCG’s since late 90’s early 2000’a starting with Pokémon and later getting into MTG and Yugioh. I played competitively in tournament scene for a few years. Although I continued to collect, I went playing and collecting about 2 years ago. My focus with Otherverse is community building, product and shipping logistics and behind the scene infrastructure. I have built some of the largest Discord communities and look forward to seeing Otherverse grow to that level.

I see Otherverse as being more than a TCG. I see Otherverse as a brand, meaning that although the TCG will always be a main focus, I want to see us branch into comics, shows etc. What makes Otherverse stand out is the fact that Sam has such a prominent focus on charity as a core of who he is. I would love to see a non profit setup in the future to allow this to happen more often supporting even more causes.

 Discord: geeps77

My experience has been as an avid TCG player and collector. With any TCG, I want that the game to be playable, accessible but also be collectible. With Pokemon, I’ve been a player, collector, professor and judge in large part because I love the game and what TCGs bring to connect people. My focus with Otherverse is architecting technical solutions to streamline and optimize business processes. Coming from a player, I want to see tools to manage tournaments, deck build and spotlight players. From a collector, I’d like to see tools to find information about cards, pop reports, collection galleries and being able to make trades.

I see Otherverse always being willing to innovate and take aspects of card design, art direction, printing and improve. I’d want to see Otherverse grow to be a sustainable business that cares about the players and the collectors but is still able to give back to the community tenfold. #payitforward

I’m sure you’re aware of the amazing artwork from our talented artist Jasmine Jones who went by BrownieTheif. She had created some of the first arts for Otherverse that included Crystal Fang, Nian Nian and the original Kiyo, Protector of Man. She was a growing beacon of light and was always so excited to work on the art for Otherverse. Sadly she had passed away from COVID late last year. Otherverse started a Jasmine Jones Scholarship Fund. This scholarship fund which  will be given out each year so that her name lives on. She was passionate as an artist and always wanted to further her education. As part of the scholarship fund, our goal is to support artists in their educational journey. The scholarship is fully dedicated to Jasmine Jones with the application for the scholarship being art-based.

My name is Jorge, I was born in Cali, Colombia. I grew up in Miami Florida. I have been doing art all my life but started doing digital art 2 years ago. One of the characters I am most proud of is Dragon Queen. I feel she opened the door for me to have a career in art with Otherverse and doing what I love. I get so inspired by different cultures and muses and hope to bring that to all of the characters I do for Otherverse. I also love to travel and of course European football!

I love to create art within a whimsical world that an atmosphere composed of vibrant colors, nature, and fantasy. I developed a fascination for art from a young age as my family’s heritage initiated my interest; my passion deepened as I learned to transform my timidness into blossoming confidence through expression in visual art. I have a focus in graphic design, painting, and photography.

I’m a humble artist from Idaho, with crazy curly frizzy honey-brown locks. In my spare time I love doodling, training dogs, and eating delicious food. I’ve dabbled with traditional art mediums all my life, and my favorites to work with are oil and acrylic. I’m honored to be a part of Otherverse, and am working on honing my skills in digital art to bring the best that I can offer for this amazing community. I can’t wait to continue to bring to life some of Otherverse’s flora and fauna!

I started drawing at the age of 3 and enjoyed it as a hobby. Growing up, I aspired to help others, so I pursued a career in healthcare before allocating time to hobbies. I am happy to be a part of OTHERVERSE – a team that recognizes the issue of health disparity between social classes, which aligns with my personal long-term goal.

I’m from Jamaica, but I spent most of my life in PA. I have been doing art (seriously) for about 6 years, and I do all sorts of styles and mediums (realism, semi-realism, cartoon, anime, chibi, traditional, digital etc.) I was introduced to Otherverse when Sam commissioned my first card: Flame Princess. I build complex lego models and miss basketball shots.

Creative Holo is one of the best custom printing companies in the US. Otherverse is proud to partner with Creative Holo to keep innovating and working together to print the best products possible. Otherverse does understand that costs will be higher but we will not sacrifice quality when it comes to our product. Otherverse believes wholeheartedly that Creative Holo is the best partner for the next steps.

We will be partnering with BackerKit, a pledge manager to retrieve your address information and to allow you to changes/additions to your selections after the campaign is over. If there are any add-ons remaining, you will be able to add those through BackerKit but if they are sold out and paid for, they will not appear in BackerKit. Shipping and VAT (where applicable) charges will be calculated in BackerKit for your pledge and add-ons.  The shipping costs will be based on the address that you provide in your BackerKit survey, the weight of your order including the pledge items or add-ons. All add-ons and pledge items will be shipped together in the same package to try and keep shipping costs low. However, if there are certain items will be significantly delayed, we will ship them separately at no additional cost to you.

As part of the growth of Otherverse,  there have been sample cards in the paste made to test different printers and designs of the card. Some version 2 samples for Dragon Queen and Dragon Queen – Full Power are shown below. Each character may have a Full Power version as well as alternate artwork.

Below is a gallery of our latest prototypes sample cards printed by our printing partner CreativeHolo. CreativeHolo has gone above and beyond to ensure the high level of quality when it comes to production. The Otherverse Team has worked hand-in-hand with CreativeHolo to innovate and improve the processes and we truly value their commitment to Otherverse. We will have many new surprises to share with you with what we plan to do with CreativeHolo’s help. We go through these prototypes and testing phases to experiment new techniques and to fix mistakes prior to completing the complete production run. The imperfections that you see on any of the cards are just opportunities for us to improve.
