Route, Sequence and Control All Of Your Music Production Gear

Story

How we got here and where we are:

Everyone in our team is a music professional. From education, to live performances and sound design we have several years of experience in the audio and music industries. All four of us got together by sharing the same pain in our music journeys: We were spending more time configuring equipment and setting up our instruments than making music! We were discussing this for a long time and we wanted to change that. We built the first Reliq proof of concept in 2020 as a side project between friends for personal use. We received a lot of interest and support from friends and colleagues and the project was so challenging and fascinating that it transformed to full time pretty quickly. In 2021 we entered into a feasibility and validation study partnering with Yes!Delft, the leading tech incubator in Europe. In 2022 we had completed several prototypes and user tests, finalizing the feasibility study for Reliq. Since then we have built several more prototypes to optimize user experience and hardware for production, while forming partnerships world-wide to ensure a high-quality and time-efficient production.  In May 2023 we went to our first Superbooth Exhibition in Berlin where we showcased an Alpha version of the Reliq hardware and software. At the moment we have a fully functioning prototype of Reliq.

We are a team of 4 musicians that have engineering, programming and design as hobbies. After several years of experience in the audio and music industries we felt the need to improve our workflows so we can focus more on what we cherish most: creating music!  We built the first Reliq prototype in 2020 as a side project for personal use.  After quite some time we are still really passionate about building the piece of gear we were always missing in our setups!

Here’s a brief glimpse into who we are:

Kyriakos has a professional background in sound design and music technology. He has worked in the audio industry for multiple international productions and as a technology advisor for artists, companies and organizations.  Along the way, he recognized the potential for more intuitive interfaces to simplify the intricacies of sound design and music creation. This realization later developed into the vision of Reliq

Michele has a professional background in Sound Engineering and Electronics Design. In the past he designed instruments for multiple artists and organizations. Through these experiences he gained the insights that inspired him to design unique hardware solutions that solved the technology complexities of Reliq. Michele is also a Live Electronics professor at the Conservatorium of Amsterdam where he applies his passion for intuitive electronic instruments and education.

Zois is an audiovisual artist and designer. He has a professional background in Fine Arts that combines with software development for his practice. His last project, the Euclidean Sequencer Max for Live device, is one of the most popular devices in its category. Through this project he came to the realization that the complexity of a professional audio environment can be significantly improved through detailed designed user-interfaces. His passion for intuitive, direct and musical interfaces developed into the design of Reliq.

Giuliano has a professional background in music composition and software development. His common passion for programming and music led him to develop several technology tools for music composition. He has programmed multiple instruments and software for art installations, exhibitions and award-winning interactive projects. His composition and programming experiences created his vision for Reliq’s software.
