Slite. A portable light for better photos & videos

Story

Since January 2019, we’ve researched, designed, developed and prototyped Slite with industry-leading designers, electrical engineers and LED manufacturers.

Whether you’re an expert or it’s your first light, you’re in a studio or on a deserted island, Slite makes professional lighting possible.

Features of the Slite app:

A range of 800 feet / 240 metres (with direct line of sight) or 130 feet / 40 metres indoors
State-of-the-art Bluetooth 5.0, which provides exceptional range and zero latency, so you can make real-time adjustments to your setup
Ability to group and control multiple Slites
Option to save your favorite settings as a ‘scene’ or ‘preset’, so you can come back to it!
Select from color wheel, or input specific HEX codes to match any color you want
Use your camera’s ‘live view’ – or an image from your gallery – to reproduce a color using our ‘color picker’
Control brightness and saturation from 0%-100%, at 1% increments
Save your custom colors and white balances for future use
Match other lights with green/magenta shift
Experiment with special effects, namely: police car, disco, fire, candle, strobe, paparazzi, faulty globe, TV, lightning, fireworks and neon sign.

In 2018, Alex (Slite’s co-founder and Technology Director) was filming an interview in a 150-year-old brewery with no power – and it got him thinking! Why wasn’t there a professional LED panel that could run off a USB-C powerbank? Why couldn’t professional lighting be easier, simpler, faster to set up? So many questions and only one thing to do.

Alex’s mission to create Slite – a powerful, portable, easy-to-use professional light -began!

ROBBIE COLEMAN (Creative Director) specialises in branding and marketing for startups and scale-ups in technology, which is how he found himself in this mess! Robbie has also shot for global brands, directed documentaries on five continents and produced content for publications including Le Monde and New York Times. He couldn’t think of anything worse than a spreadsheet.

ALEX SMITH (Technology Director) has used his technical prowess to bring numerous pieces of innovative technology to-market. Each has been born out of a personal desire for a better product; something to suit his needs, that he couldn’t find anywhere else. As a camera nerd and Director of Photography (DOP) with a decade of experience, solving the issue of cost-prohibitive and cumbersome lights was always on the cards for Alex; and now it’s happening!

MYLES MUNRO (Head of Manufacturing) has founded, owned and operated dozens of businesses in the hospitality, entertainment and creative industries. He loves the thrill of launching a new project and steering a business through its early stages. With a degree in Urban Planning and Development, Myles specializes in regulatory compliance, strategy, financials and corporate structure. Unlike Robbie, Myles loves a spreadsheet!

We plan to ship to our first backers in July 2022!

Perk prices do not include shipping or taxes (including VAT / GST). Estimated shipping costs are listed above. Taxes (VAT/GST) vary between states and countries and will be charged accordingly. Shipping and taxes will be calculated and paid for by backers after the campaign, just prior to their Perk being shipped. This process will be managed through BackerKit, who will be in contact with backers via email after the campaign ends.
