Recipients of the “2024 Beta Access” reward should receive access to the ongoing Closed Beta test within 1-2 business days. DISCLAIMER: All stretch goals were unlocked in the original Kickstarter campaign and we do not have any additional stretch goals. We cannot predict future development with complete certainty, and the final design/specifications of additional stretch goal content (if any) is subject to change. Some stretch goal rewards may be available to all players for free, while others may become available for future purchase.

We’ll be partnering with fulfillment centers to ship our Collector’s Edition boxes to backers in select locations around the world. Below, you’ll find information on where we can ship to, the estimated costs, and what timeline you can expect before you receive your rewards.

Please be aware that an initial shipping estimate is collected when you pledge, and that taxes are not included in your initial payment. After the campaign but before the Collector’s Edition boxes are shipped, we’ll email you a link to a pledge manager called Gamefound that will collect your address, calculate taxes and any additional shipping costs, and allow you to handle the payment digitally.

Shipping will vary based on your country. These costs may change by the time we ship, but we worked with some fulfillment partners to calculate an initial estimate that will help you better anticipate the final prices. This table only includes an estimated cost of shipping, not taxes, because the tax will vary based on the price of the pledge level you’re backing.

We do welcome international orders, but unfortunately, we can’t ship everywhere. These are the countries we are able to ship to.

 

Taxes and VAT

Taxes will vary based on the cost of your pledge level and where your rewards are shipped, and will be collected after the campaign via the Gamefound pledge manager. This makes sure that you won’t have to worry about paying them at the time of delivery, and that your costs are what you expect before you pay. No taxes are included in the prices on the campaign.

  • United States: You’ll pay a shipping cost, and state sales taxes may apply.
  • European Union & United Kingdom: You’ll pay a shipping cost and a VAT tax. For more information on what VAT is and what the rates are per country, click this link.

As an example, if you live in Germany and you purchase the $200 Collector’s Edition pledge level and you end up paying $25 in shipping, you’ll be subject to the German VAT rate of 19% for the combined cost of the pledge level ($200) and the shipping ($25). In this example, that would be a VAT due of $42.75. You’ll receive an email with a link to pay both the VAT ($42.75) and shipping ($25) digitally through our pledge manager after the campaign, right before we ship.

 

Other Countries

For any regions marked as “Duties Unpaid” in the shipping costs table, we’ll be able to ship to you, but you’ll be solely responsible for sales tax, import fees, and/or any other local fees and processes when your shipment is delivered and clearing customs.

 

Collector’s Edition Provided By

 

For Stormgate, we believe it’s critical that our soundtrack slaps. Our audio director Alexander Brandon (Unreal Tournament, Deus Ex) has assembled a group of all-star composers and voice talent to bring our game to life, including Tracy W. Bush (Warcraft III, World of Warcraft, StarCraft) and Frank Klepacki (Dune II, Command & Conquer series) whose Vanguard and Infernal themes you can listen to here:

 

Year Zero is what we’re calling our Early Access period. It’s a time when Stormgate will be in active development to continue iterating and polishing the game before we’re ready to say it’s “done.” We’ll have a year-long campaign for players to experience while we work on the Editor, build our 3v3 mode, refine our factions, Heroes, and units, and craft future campaign missions.

Early Access is incredibly helpful to developers, especially independent studios like ours. We will be selling players optional content during Early Access to generate revenue to fund ongoing development so that Stormgate is self-sustaining. Early Access also allows us to get our game into the hands of the community early so that we can act on their feedback under live game conditions. We aim to make Stormgate one of the greatest RTS games ever, and we’ve built a team that can do it, but it will take us some time to get there.

Risks & Challenges

The gaming market is increasingly difficult to succeed in today, especially for independent studios without publisher support. We will face incredibly strong competition from other games when we launch Early Access next summer. Our launch may not go as well as we’d hoped, which would result in us either needing to delay the release of future game modes, features, or content, or being forced to reduce scope and modify the vision we have for Stormgate after Early Access.

Our years of experience building and maintaining successful RTS games, the enthusiastic response from our closed alpha playtesters, the positive press, and the incredible support we’ve received from the leading voices in the RTS community – they all give us confidence that Stormgate will be a success and can bring in enough players to sustain ongoing development.

Another challenge we’ll face is the fulfillment of our physical goods, including the physical Collector’s Edition boxes. We are working with experienced vendors, but unforeseen delays during any part of the production schedule may impact when you will receive them. Also, while we are doing our best to account for shipping costs, those costs are unpredictable and affected by conditions outside our control, which could meaningfully impact our operating expenses.
