Beyond the screen, we’re crafting an experience for friends and family to bond over, combining the sheer fun of adventures, the awe of sci-fi, and the essential message of climate change education throughout the plot.

My wife, Jackie, and I are on a mission to revolutionize climate education through entertaining media. After two years of collaboration with climate experts, creating teasers, interviews with youth, and growing our global community have convinced us: Together, we can achieve wonders.

In the backdrop of a small town, 23-year-old Mia unexpectedly finds herself at the heart of an interstellar mystery. She learns she’s one of the nine Star Children, each endowed with unique cosmic abilities, destined to be Earth’s champions. With her tight-knit group of friends, dramatic family, and the expertise of an ex-government scientist named Carl Strand, Mia is set on a mission to decipher a cosmic message that might just hold the key to understanding Earth’s looming climate threats. 

This narrative brilliantly fuses the heartfelt drama of youth with the awe-inspiring breadth of sci-fi, reminiscent of cinematic marvels like “Interstellar”. We’re John and Jackie, creators of “The Goldilocks Mission.” We have three children, Lucy, Harvey, and Goldie, and like many parents, we worry about the future awaiting our children. This show is our heartfelt contribution to climate awareness. We are convinced that knowledge empowers, and by preparing our children for the challenges ahead, we’re helping them become resilient and forward-thinking. As Executive Producer and Creator of “The Goldilocks Mission” I bring to the table over 25 years in the industry as a director and producer. My most notable work, “Exit Humanity”, narrated by HBO’s “Succession” star Brian Cox, was a top-grosser for Starz Lionsgate in Canada. My films have gone to global film festivals such as Cannes and Sitges in Spain, and found homes on platforms like Netflix, Prime, Lionsgate, and Starz. My diverse portfolio ranges from work in the music industry as well, including producing music videos for prominent groups such as Kidz Bop and Papa Roach.

Over the past two decades, my wife Jackie has navigated multiple facets of the media industry, earning a degree in screenwriting from the Film & Theatre program at Bishop’s University and making her mark as an award-winning photographer. Fuelled by a profound passion for storytelling and a drive to leave an enduring legacy for our three children, she ventured into the entertainment sector. Her prowess was evident at CTV’s eTalk and through her roles as a set designer on various films (Including my first feature, Scarce, which is where we met). With unwavering vision, Jackie co-founded OnTheVerge Media, significantly influencing the creation of “The Goldilocks Mission”

Jeff Maher brings with him an illustrious 25-year cinematography career. His notable works recently include shooting for the Shudder original ‘Vicious Fun’ and contributions to Eli Roth’s ‘Urban Legends’ and ‘The Haunted Museum’  anthologies. His vision earned him the coveted Canadian Society of Cinematographers’ award for the Cannes Lion-nominated Parapan AM Games Commercial. Beyond the big screen, Maher’s commercial career boasts collaborations with giants like Samsung, Lincoln, Mini, Kawasaki, Farmers Insurance, AARP, Dyson, Bose, and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. Fuelled by a passion for science and a commitment to impactful storytelling, Maher’s seasoned skills and perspective are a beacon for ‘The Goldilocks Mission’.”

Chris Vermeulen’s involvement in The Goldilocks Mission is deeply personal.
